Midway through each semester, we invite parents and family members to join us in Israel for an inspiring eight day trip to visit participants, meet our faculty, and discover our unique learning environment.

The Parents' Pilgrimage is designed for both those who are first time visitors to Israel and for those who have traveled before. Come enjoy meaningful time with your family in Israel, immerse yourself in our learning experiences, and celebrate Shabbat on Kibbutz Tzuba and at Israeli Reform synagogues.

We hope parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives and friends consider traveling to Israel to join this meaningful group experience.

The URJ Heller High Parents' Pilgrimage is the official visitation period that has been set aside for you to visit with your children. The Parents’ Pilgrimage is a unique opportunity to experience Israel the Heller High way!

We have designed an interactive program that provides quality time with your child and an opportunity to see some of the attractions of ancient and modern Israel.

The itinerary is designed both for parents and family members who are first time travelers to Israel (there will be group and optional tours to some of the quintessential sites in Israel) and for those who have traveled to Israel before. In the past, we have welcomed not only parents of our students, but younger and older siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and other members of extended families. Parents have brought siblings of all ages, however, we believe that the content of the program is best suited for those at least 10 years of age.

Our staff has created a special program that will acquaint you with some of the experiences and places that will greatly impact your child during his or her semester in Israel. It is a chance for you to have a first hand experience of the integration of classroom and onsite learning which makes the program such a success. We are pleased to report that those families who have participated in the past have found it to be a very rewarding and exciting experience with their children. We strongly encourage all parents to consider traveling to Israel to join this group experience. It is a wonderful opportunity to:

--Enjoy meaningful time with your child in the Jewish Homeland

--Immerse yourself in the Heller High Learning Experience as you join specially selected classes and tiyulim (field trips)

--Meet your child’s teachers and staff

--Celebrate Shabbat on Kibbutz Tzuba and at Israeli Reform Synagogues with our students, faculty and other parents.

“Wow--what a trip. I was so happy about the entire Heller High School in Israel program before seeing it in action, but now I am beyond thrilled and amazed. All of the staff, incredible teachers, and madrichim are giving our children such a gift. I had so much fun on the Parents' Pilgrimage--my first time in Israel!--and am already planning what I want to do on my next trip to Israel. I will miss all of the other parents I got to hang out with! Thank you, thank you to all.” -Laura, Charlotte, NC

“My wife and I want to thank you again for such a wonderful trip. It was beautifully organized and seamlessly choreographed by your amazing staff. As I had never before been to Israel, I was somewhat apprehensive but, without a doubt, the trip was the most amazing travel and spiritual experience of my life. It has changed me in a fundamental way. We also made many new friends who we hope to remain close to…The only "problem" is that we saw enough to know how much more we need to see. So, we'll be going back ASAP!” -Joshua, Miami, FL

“We wanted to thank you again for the most wonderful time that we had in Israel the past 10 days!!! Everything was so well organized and thoughtfully planned out. We were so impressed with…the entire staff - you all are doing an outstanding job in taking care and teaching the children.” -Robin and Ken, Dix Hills, NY

“…I would like…the staff to know what an amazing and incredible experience we had with (our son) in Israel. We were very impressed with the teachers, madrichim, and all the people involved in providing a truly unique situation for (our son) and the rest of the kids. We thoroughly enjoyed and relished all the time spent in the Jewish History class and the tiyuls… and learned more than we ever would have on a traditional tour through Israel. In fact, much to the laughter of my son & his friends, I took notes! I would be happy to fill in for any student at any time!” -Susan, Ann Arbor, MI

“…I recently returned home to Texas after spending last week in Israel on Tzuba with (my daughter) and the rest of the parents and kids as part of the parents pilgrimage. Everything was so well planned for the parents and our chaperone, Mehtal, was always so friendly and accommodating. Really, absolutely everyone from the administrators to the teachers and everyone in-between made us feel so welcome. The trips we took were well thought out and informative and educational for everyone, no small feat there. There was not a lot of down time, which made it tiring, but is a good thing too.” -Amy, Spring, TX
